Community Partnership

Community partnerships offer DHA and other organizations and businesses in the area the opportunity to come together under one roof to help each other and DHA residents. Community partnerships allow
organizations to work together to improve, streamline or broaden the current services offered to DHA residents.
DHA partners with faith-based, grassroots and established businesses and organizations such as DISD, The Dallas Morning News, H.I.S. Bridgebuilders, Drive Financial, Central Dallas Ministries,
Marriott Pathways program, Goodwill and Walgreens stores to name a few.
DRIVE WITH A HEART FOUNDATION/TURNER COURTS
The automobile financing company Drive Financial, for example, has taken a special interest in Turner Courts Recreation Center. The company’s “Drive with a Heart” Foundation has updated the
recreation center with new game room equipment and new computer equipment for the PC center and GED room. The foundation also funded the renovation of the center’s kitchen, displayed murals in the game
room and gym, and added to the center’s security system, among many other improvements.
ROSELAND COMMUNITY CENTER
Roseland Community Center boasts a new gymnasium and community life center.
Central Dallas Ministries, a faith-based community development organization, partnered with DHA to operate the gym and offers services on site.
H.I.S. BRIDGEBUILDERS
BridgeBuilders works closely with DHA to ensure that residents are offered every opportunity to reach their full potential. BridgeBuilders partnered with DHA on a Neighborhood Network Center that is
available for residents to perform job searches, receive assistance in resume writing and participate in self-improvement classes.
LAKEWEST MULTIPURPOSE CENTER
The Lakewest Multipurpose Center, conveniently located near Lakewest Town Center, features a 56,000-square foot facility that includes a YMCA, a Head Start program, a police substation and a Parkland
Hospital women’s health clinic. The Lakewest project is such a success that it was recognized and visited by President George Bush.
CENTRAL DALLAS MINISTRIES
DHA partners with Central Dallas Ministries to operate the Roseland Community Center, a gathering place for both public housing residents and non-residents from the community. The center
collaborates with the city’s parks and recreation department to offer a summer day camp for neighborhood children.
THE DMN EMPLOYMENT KIOSK
The Dallas Morning News has provided a kiosk with the newspaper’s online “help wanted” database. The kiosk at the Resident Employment
Training Center allows DHA residents to tap into up-to-date job listings while DHA staff members offer encouragement, support in preparing for job interviews and arrange for transportation and childcare so
DHA residents can enter the workforce.
With the help of DHA’s community partners, DHA is building whole communities.
