Housing and Self Sufficiency Programs/How to Apply for Housing

When to apply:  Mondays from 7:00 a.m. to noon. Seniors age 62+ and disabled applicants can apply on Friday from 7:00 a.m. to noon. The applications office is closed on nationally recognized holidays.            

Where to apply: 3131 Fish Trap Rd in West Dallas, 75212, one block west of Singleton Boulevard and Hampton Road.

Application: You may complete the application when you arrive.

What to bring:  Government issued photo identification card.

Screening: You must agree to screening for drug and alcohol usage and criminal activity at time of eligibility.

Income: You must meet income requirements. Income will be verified at time of eligibility.  The amount of rent you pay is a percentage of your income.  For example, you will pay less rent if your income is in the “Extremely Low Income” category than you would if it were in the “Very Low” or “Lower Income” categories.

Waiting List: After you apply, you are placed on a waiting list. As you move up on the waiting list, DHA will schedule an eligibility appointment by mail.
