DHA President and CEO Ann Lott New Board Member of Leading Housing Group

Dallas, Texas (May 1, 2006) -- The Dallas Housing Authority is pleased to announce that Ann Lott, president and CEO of the Dallas Housing Authority, has joined The Council of Large Public Housing Authorities (CLPHA) Board of Directors.

Ms. Lott has more than 20 years of management and planning experience at DHA, which includes approximately 5,300 public housing units, 500 private market units and 17,000 housing choice voucher families. Ms. Lott was recently recognized by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for her leadership and quick action in assisting Hurricane Katrina survivors; DHA has assisted 6,800 affected families to date.

“Ann has demonstrated how innovative leadership can increase housing opportunities and spark community-wide improvements,” said CLPHA Executive Director Sunia Zaterman. “We are delighted that she will be joining the CLPHA Board of Directors.”

During Ms. Lott’s tenure, DHA has been a catalyst in revitalizing aging communities, building public/private partnerships and creating homeownership opportunities for low-income families. For example, DHA partnered with KB Home, Habitat for Humanity and American CityVista to create Greenleaf Village, a development of 300 privately owned single-family homes in West Dallas on 68-acres of land previously owned by the housing authority. DHA is also actively engaged in changing the face of South Dallas, hiring renowned Boston Urban Planner Antonio Di Mambro to create a master plan and revitalizing three of its largest, oldest and most troubled housing developments: Frazier Courts, Rhoads Terrace and Turner Courts.

Ms. Lott began her career at the housing authority shortly after graduating from San Diego State University in California. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Work and is currently pursuing an MBA in Strategic Leadership. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Metro Homeless Association and the Dallas Urban League. She was also appointed to HUD’s committee on the Negotiated R ulemaking for the Operating Fund Program; working group for the state of Texas Qualified Allocation Plan and the working group of the Greater Dallas Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse. Lott currently serves on the Board of Directors for The Real Estate Council (TREC) and recently served on the Board of Directors for the TREC Foundation.

CLPHA, a national non-profit organization that works to preserve and improve public and affordable housing through advocacy, research, policy analysis and public education and its 60 members represent virtually every major metropolitan area in the country; on any given day, they are serving more than one million households. Together they manage almost half of the $90 billion asset that is public housing, and administer 30 percent of the Section 8 housing assistance program. They are in the vanguard of real estate managers and developers, and housing providers.
