President’s Message from Ann Lott:

We continue to work toward our goal of building sustainable communities by offering programs designed to assist families in achieving self-sufficiency. While DHA is not a social service provider, we are proud of the holistic approach we take to serving our clients. We partner with agencies such as the YMCA, Boys & Girls Clubs, DART, DISD, and the local Worksource, to name a few. The partner agencies augment the services DHA provides by taking the needs assessment with clients to the next level—one that leads to growth and ultimately economic independence.

As many of you know, 2004 brought the close of the 20-year-old Walker desegregation lawsuit, ending one chapter of DHA’s history.

Soon after, Hurricane Katrina created a new and immediate challenge. As I listened to the news from far away, somehow I knew that DHA could play a vital role in providing refuge for many Katrina survivors. As CEO of the nation’s best housing authority, I am proud of the many accomplishments that DHA and its local partners are continuing to provide for Katrina evacuees. It is nothing short of a miracle that DHA was able to help in such an extraordinary way.

My staff continues to amaze, enlighten, support and encourage me in every good and decent way. I am proud of their dedication, skills and accomplishments.

Ann Lott, President and CEO
